ꦯBangalore-based Bombay Play raised $1.5 million in Pre-Series A Funding round led by venture capital firm Leo Capital. 🦩Angel investor Ramakant Sharma, Founder of Livespace, also participated in the funding round.
As per a in BW Disrupt, Bombay Play plans to use the 🌳funds to recruit game developers and grow internationally.
Commenting on the funding, Oliver Jones, CEO of Bombay Play, said, “India is on a rocket ship trajectory to becoming one of the top game development hubs of the world. We are building a team tha🦩t has the vision and energy to deliver world-class titles that will compete with the best. We are happy to have raised this funding from Leo Capital and Ramakant Sharma”.
Thꦅe company was founded by Jones (co-founder of Moonfrog Labs, previous game director at Glu and Zynga) and Abhas Saroha (CTO of Bo♔mbay Play and previous lead engineer at Zynga, Moonfrog Labs, and MakeMyTrip).
Saroha added "We have had a front-row seat to the growth of mobil♐e gaming around the world for around 10 years, and the꧟ excitement has still not diminished. India today has the tech and creative talent to produce world-class content for global audiences.”
Bombay Play develops multiplayer games. Their app was downloaded 10 million times in its first year for their signature game Card Party. Besides Card Party, some of the popular games from Bombay Play are Pokemon Tower Battle and 29 Card Game. They will also launch Battꦓle Royale Game ‘Lockdown Brawl’ this month.
